NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo (National Writing Month)  starts in November.  It may seem like a long ways away but it will be here before we know it.  I have decided to participate this year and I am very excited!  It encourages those that participate to write a 50,000 word book.  When held accountable, this is suppose to really work.

What I really like about  NaNoWriMo is that you can create an account on their website, track your progress and get a lot of pep talks and support.  While I am mostly a literary analyst, I believe I can come up with a plan for a good book between now and November.

I hope that those that have been considering writing the great American novel will join me this year.  Let's get our creative juices flowing and do what we have always wanted to.  Let's write and join  NaNoWriMo!

A pretty random day.  Working on my writing.  Looking for inspiration. I find it hard when all the kids are home on Spring break.

What to Read?

Well, it has been awhile since I've written on this blog.  Having writer's block is no joke.  I have slowly found my way back, though.  I have learned over the years that reading helps to stir my passion for writing.

What I am Reading Makes a Difference

Currently I am reading A Crown in the Stars, by Kacy Barnett-Gramckow and Jesus Among Other Gods by Kavi Zacharias.   While neither of these are the great American novel, each has inspired me in different way.  The first has inspired to write about characters that people will like and also write about interesting characters that people will hate.  The antagonists is just as important as the protagonist.

The second book I am reading, Jesus Among Other Gods, is reminding me to always question.  Questioning helps to strengthen our own beliefs.  In my writing, I need to remember that the reader will be questioning everything from motives to character perceptions.

What Will I do?

Today I will continue to look for inspiration.  I will start with my environment.  I need an inspirational place to write. Any suggestions?  This blog may also help Writer's inspiration
